Helen rose shortly after seven, followed by a light breakfast. We decide that today we'd have a short day, so we left our overnight mooring just before 8:00 and set off. An incidentless day other than catching the wind at hardings wood Junction which the chap on the boat behind us decided would be a good idea to hold back until I'd managed to get BH to go where I wanted. He later told us that he'd decided that BH wanted to go through Harecastle, whereas he could see we had other idea's. Saw 'Why Worry' on her moorings today, could this possibly be the Why Worry? Think the BCN Challenge 2001 Posters (?) gave that away. The towpath side lock of the pair at Lock 54 on the T&M is currently closed to traffic, our good deed for the day involved retying one end of the dumb barge/skip to it's bollard on the towpath as this was proving to be a hazard to traffic, including being right across the tail of the working lock of the pair. I will later be making the customary daily call to Orange customer services to complain about them not releasing my Motorola phone on time for this trip so if this report and the yesterdays turns up today you'll know that I was successfull. OK so why do I need the phone released? Simple, Orange Just talk don't provide Fax and Data facilities, OTOH One2One pay as you talk do, and my mobile was a 121 until they released it 2 days after it was requested. Helen's mobile has an IR port which quite happily talks to tghhis 'ere Psion machine. So by getting both phones released I can have my old phone back with IR, while Helen can continue to use her sim in my old 121, easy eh! Not so, apparently it can take up to 3 weeks for Orange to release a phone, which is a bit different from the 2 days I was told when placing the request last Sunday. Any way, enough whinging, today we stopped at 16:30 hours just above lock 57 on the T&M with the intention of having dinner tonight in 'The Romping Donkey' which we are told is 'an alright place'. Guess what, The Romping Donkey doesn't do food on aSunday night, but the new landlord of 6 weeks has assured us that this policy is being looked at, on account of having turned away eight diners in the first hour of being open tonight.
