We had a brief rain and hail shower whilst loading, but the sun came out as soon as we departed. I had offered to wind our boat but the A-W man said that he would do it. I'm rather glad that he did, since the wind took charge as soon as he began. I've spent the last few months steering Jemima D and Phoenix, both around 35 foot and very manoeverable, so a full length boat in a strong wind was a bit of a shock. We completed the Tardebigge flight and Stoke locks in brilliant sunshine, mooring at Stoke Wharf at 7.15. I have long looked forward to this flight, the expectation was fully justified. Wonderful setting, brilliant weather and fast and easy locks. An excellent start to our holiday. I'm now sat amongst good friends in the Navigation, having just finished an excellent sirloin steak and started on my second pint of Guinness. All is well with the world tonight. Tomorrow - Worcester. BTW, can anyone tell me which of the locks off the Severn at Stourport are in use? Mike Casswell The Navigation Stoke Wharf
